Our Family
Dr.
David Kells
was born
in Oklahoma
but moved frequently as his father was in the Air Force. He began
elementary school in England
(thus "British trained"). From fifth grade through medical
school, he lived in Colorado, except
for a two
year hiatus as a missionary in Germany.
His majors at the University
of Colorado (Boulder)
were chemistry and international affairs. After graduating from
CU in 3
years, he received his MD from the University
of Colorado (Denver).
Dr. Kells' internship and
residency were at Maricopa
Medical Center.
He then worked with a large multi-specialty group in Arizona for 14
years prior to establishing
Boojum in 1998. Dr. Kells is board certified in Obstetrics &
Gynecology. He has been practicing for 27 years. His interests
include
sports, exercise and weight training, cooking, and collecting
art. He has
five children aged 20 to 30 and three grandchildren. Dr. Kells was featured in Phoenix Magazine as one
of the
best doctors in the valley for 2009!
Ramona
Joseph
our nurse-midwife grew up in rural North Carolina and is a member of
the Lumbee Indian Tribe.
She graduated from the UNC at Greensboro
in Nursing and UNC-Chapel Hill with an MPH. As an officer in the US
Public
Health Service, she was assigned to various Indian reservations across
the
country including Oklahoma, New Mexico and California.
Her love has always been caring for pregnant women, especially during
the
laboring period. Ramona graduated from the Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky in
2002 and
became certified as a nurse midwife. Most recently she worked with
Indian
Health Service in Phoenix
for 18 years. She is married and has three children who are all very
active in
sports. Her hobbies are exercising, cooking, and all sports.

Venessa
Thompson
was born
in Iowa
where
she spent her formative years. She also lived in Tucson, Sacramento
and Seattle.
She received a
Bachelor of
Science degree in Nursing in 1999 from Grand
View College
in Des Moines Iowa
after which she worked in L&D at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix.
In 2003
she graduated from ASU with a Master of Science in Nursing and
Certification as
a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She has been working as a
nurse
practitioner since graduation. She currently resides in Chandler with
her teenage daughter.
Her interests include traveling, triathlons, and reading all
types of
fiction books.
Karen
Carey
our nurse-midwife spent her
early years in
a small town in Kansas.
After graduating from Kansas University
with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she moved to Arizona.
She completed the nurse-midwifery program at the University
of Arizona
and her Master of Science in Nursing from Arizona
State
University.
Karen has always been interested in women’s health. She has
worked as a
labor and delivery nurse and an OB/GYN nurse practitioner. After
completing her nurse-midwifery program, she worked in rural Pinal
County
and
then at Maricopa
Medical
Center.
For the past 20 years she has worked for Phoenix
Indian
Medical
Center.
During the course of her career, she has attended 2000 births.
Karen is
married and has 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren. She enjoys
gardening,
sewing and playing the piano.
Cyndi
Ayoub
is the newest nurse
practitioner to join
our office. Women's health has become an integral part for the
women in
Cyndi's family. Cyndi's mother is a Certified Nurse Midwife and
her
sister is an ultrasound technician for an OB/GYN office. Cyndi began
her career
in women's health in 2001. She always knew that she would obtain
her
master's and become a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She
enjoys
working with women from different cultures; especially the hispanic
population
here in Arizona.
After working with new mothers and babies in Couplet Care, Cyndi
decided
that she wanted a longer and more established relationship. Cyndi
is a Arizona
native and
completed both her bachelor's and master's degress at ASU. She
lives in Chandler
with her husband
and two children. She feels her personal experience as a woman's
health
patient drives her to provide the highest quality of individualized
healthcare

and Shannon work in our front
office.
Lizette, Khirstin, Perla, Sue, and Eunice assist in patient care.
Kellee
is our ultrasound tech. Brenna is our office manager.
Many
staff members are fluent in Spanish.
